AFN Yukon-CYFN Amalgamation

Yukon First Nations have made the collective decision to amalgamate the AFN Yukon Regional Office with the Council of Yukon First Nations (CYFN) effective October 1, 2025.

This governance change – advanced through resolutions passed by both CYFN (CYFN Resolution) and AFN Yukon (AFN YR Resolution) and Chiefs – reflects the direction of Yukon First Nations to strengthen our voice within the AFN and streamline representation for all 14 Yukon First Nations.

“We are truly a Yukon that leads. This is about amplifying the collective voices of all Yukon First Nations in a way that reflects who we are: united, visionary, and rooted in our values. This new model creates the space for stronger, more coordinated advocacy and ensures that Yukon First Nations are not only heard, but are leading the conversation both regionally and nationally. We are stronger together.”

– AFN Regional Chief Kluane Adamek

“This decision marks a significant step forward in unifying our efforts and advancing the interests of all Yukon First Nations. Together, we’re building a path forward, guided by our shared values and driven by our vision for the future.”

– CYFN Grand Chief Peter Johnston
