AFN Yukon Region and Regional Chief Kluane Adamek share reflections on Canada’s 2nd National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
“Before reconciliation, we must get to the truth. The families of those children who never came home deserve to have these records released, and the rest of the country must see them as well. Indigenous people have known the truth of our shared histories with Canada for generations because Elders, Survivors and truth tellers have been sharing them, despite how much trauma and pain they bring. We cannot lose these stories. We cannot let the broader Canadian public forget the grief and outrage that was collectively felt one year ago. We must hold the governments and churches accountable.” – Regional Chief Kluane Adamek
