Prime Minister Trudeau and the Liberal minority government have made several commitments to Indigenous peoples in the Yukon to address some of the most pressing regional priorities including climate change, the implementation of Final and Self Government Agreements, Nation Building, transboundary issues, language revitalization and jurisdiction in child welfare.
The purpose of this Discussion Paper is to clearly set out Yukon First Nations’ priorities and identify upcoming engagement opportunities over the next year. Now that the new cabinet has been sworn in, Canada can begin taking immediate steps to address Yukon First Nation priorities.
